I live in Chicago near Wrigley Field.
Whenever possible I ride my bicycle to work, yoga class and the lakefront, usually not at the same time.
In 2013, I started a narrative medicine program to help with the stress of being a doctor, kids dying, and to help with being a better doctor and a human being. Our NM program is based at Advocate Health, and we have an annual conference every fall. I created a short writing exercise called the 3-Minute Mental Makeover, for doctors and nurses to use writing together with patients to decrease stress for the patients and the practitioner.

Memories:
1. Eating meals at Phi Chi fraternity. Greg Sitka puts ketchup on everything.
2. My first day of med school, I am sitting having blood drawn so we can run tests on it. I hear a thump on the floor, and I notice that Sheila is on the floor having a seizure. I have no idea what is going on or what to do. Luckily, she soon recovers and survives. Now I understand this to be a typical case of vasovagal syncope.
3. Parties at Phi Chi, featuring the Phi Chi Arm, our Coke machine stocked with Hauenstein beer, sold at 15 cents a bottle and we turn a profit.
4. Putting on a show with my classmates, including "If I were a Rich Doc" from Fiddler on the Roof
5. I am trying to learn Spanish before going to Mexico. My classmate Lilly teaches me the ever-useful phrase: "Tus nalgas estan muy atractivas!"
